Rules and Regulations

The following rules and regulations are for the protection and benefi t of all
members. We assume that all members will read and follow these rules and
that parents will read and explain them to their children. These rules will
be enforced to the best of our ability. Your cooperation is expected and appreciated.
Additional information regarding pool rules may be printed in newsletters,
sent via email, or posted on the bulletin board at the pool.

These rules will be enforced to the best of our ability. In cases that are not
covered directly by this booklet, the pool manager or his/her designate will be
the fi nal authority.

Hours

The pool will be open to members 12 noon to 7 pm daily unless otherwise
stated. Pool hours change when Vandalia-Butler Schools are in session. On
days of special events, the pool will be closed early (or open late) to allow ample
time to prepare for the event. The pool may be closed for maintenance
operations, health conditions, weather, or any other reason deemed suffi
cient by the Pool Manager, consistent with the welfare and safety of the
members and guests.
When severe weather conditions are forecast or exist,
the pool may close for the duration of the storm. Please be sure that children
are able to reach you in these situations.

When the pool closes due to inclement weather, everyone (adults and children)
are expected to return home, NOT wait out the storm at the pool.

Pool Discipline

  1. The pool manager/lifeguard is the fi nal authority on matters of discipline
at the pool. They answer to the pool committee. Grave danger can be associated
with a swimming pool, therefore, the decision of the guard is not
    subject to appeal.
  2. The lifeguard’s instructions must be instantly followed.
  3. Members who choose not to follow the listed rules will be required to
leave the pool area for a minimum of 30 minutes (maximum time to be
determined by the pool committee) or other appropriate penalty.
